June 2023 Flower Show
The June Flower Show takes place at our monthly meeting held on Monday, June 19. Entry time is 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Judging begins at 7:30 p.m. sharp. Maximum of one entry per class per entrant. Listed below are the categories for the show.
SECTION A – CUT SPECIMENS
- Allium, 1 stem
- Aquilegia (Columbine), 1 stem
- Clematis, with leaves, 1 stem
- Hosta, 1 cultivar, large, 3 leaves
- Hosta, 1 cultivar, medium, 3 leaves
- Hosta, small or miniature, 1 leaf
- Hosta, 3 cultivars, variegated, 1 leaf each cultivar
- Dianthus (Pinks), 3 stems
- Hemerocallis (Daylily), 1 stalk
- Iris, 1 stalk
- Peony, single, 1 bloom
- Peony, double or semi-double, 1 bloom
- Rose, hybrid tea, 1 bloom
- Rose, floribunda, 1 stem
- Rose, polyanthus, 1 spray
- Rose, climber or rambler, 1 stem
- Rose, any kind not listed, 1 stem
- Rose, full blown, 1 bloom
- Any other perennial or biennial, 1 stem
- Any other perennial or biennial, 3 stems of the same kind
- Any other flowering bulb, corm or tuber, 1 stem, spike or spray
- Container of flowers, 1 kind only
- Collection of flowers, 3 or more kinds
- Flowering tree/shrub/vine, 1 branch, not to exceed 1 metre
SECTION B – HOUSE PLANTS
- Cactus or succulent, 1 pot
- House plant, foliage, 1 pot
- House plant, flowering, 1 pot
SECTION C – FRUITS & VEGETABLES
- Rhubarb, 3 stalks, on a plate (trim stalks to a 6 cm fan)
- Herbs, 3 or more varieties, displayed in water, must be named
- Any other fruit or vegetable, 1 to 3
SECTION D – DESIGN CATEGORIES
June Design Theme: "Alice"
- White Rabbit – a design using white flowers
a) Experienced exhibitors
b) Novice exhibitors (A person who has not yet won a first-place ribbon in a design category at any OHA society flower show.)
- Looking Glass -a design incorporating a reflective surface
- Falling Down the Rabbit Hole - a cascade design
- Pool of Tears - an design with visible use of water
- Drink Me - a small design (14 cm to 25.4 cm)
