September 2018 Flower Show

The September Flower Show takes place at our monthly meeting held on September 20. Entry time is 6:30 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. Judging begins at 7:30 p.m. sharp. Listed below are the categories for the show.

SECTION A – CUT SPECIMENS

  1. Aster (perennial), 1-3 sprays
  2. Clematis, 1 stem
  3. Coleus, 3 stems of one cultivar
  4. Coleus, 3 cultivars, one stem each cultivar
  5. Dahlia, cactus, 1 bloom
  6. Dahlia, decorative, 1 bloom
  7. Dahlia, any other kind, 1 bloom
  8. Fruited branch, not to exceed 1 metre
  9. Marigold, 3 blooms
  10. Petunia, 3 sprays
  11. Rose, hybrid tea, 1 bloom
  12. Rose, full blown, 1 bloom
  13. Rose, polyanthus,1 stem
  14. Rose, any kind not listed above, 1 stem
  15. Rose, any kind - First-time exhibitor
  16. Salvia, 3 spikes
  17. Sedum, large-headed, 1 head
  18. Sedum, small-headed, 1 head
  19. Seed pod or head, ripened naturally on natural length of stem, 1 stem
  20. Zinnia, 1 bloom
  21. Any kind (annual, perennial, etc.) not listed, 1 specimen
  22. Any kind (annual, perennial, etc.) not listed, 3 specimens
  23. Collection of ornamental grasses, or glrass-like plants, 3-5 cultivars, 1 stem of each
  24. Collection of flowers, 3 or more kinds

SECTION B – PLANTS

  1. African violet, single, 1 crown, 1 pot
  2. Herb(s), in 1 pot, up to 3 kinds, must be named
  3. Any other flowering plant, 1 pot
  4. Any other foliage plant, 1 pot

SECTION C – FRUITS & VEGETABLES

  1. Mixed vegetables on an 8" max plate
  2. Any fruit, 1 to 3 on a an 8 max plate
  3. Herbs, up to 5 varieties, displayed in water, must be named
  4. Pumpkin, small or large, not to exceed 400 kg.

SECTION D – DESIGN CATEGORIES

Show Theme: "Country Living"
  1. Harvest - a design using a Mason Jar
    a) Experienced exhibitors
    b) Novice exhibitors (A person who has not yet won a first-place ribbon in a design category at an EYGC flower show.)
  2. The Pond - a design with a visible use of water
  3. Barn Raising - a design incorporating wood
  4. Apple Picking - a a pavé design
  5. Spool of Thread – a small design (13.9 cm to 25.4 cm)
