September 2010 Flower Show
The September Flower Show takes place at our monthly meeting held on September 16. Entry
time is 6:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.
Judging begins at 7:15 p.m. sharp. Our design theme this year is "Life is Beautiful". Listed below are the categories for the show.
SECTION A – CUT SPECIMENS
- Aster (annual), 3 blooms
- Aster (annual), mixed colours, 3 blooms
- Aster (perennial), 1-3 sprays
- Chrysanthemum, 1 spray
- Chrysanthemum, 3 sprays
- Chrysanthemum, container of mixed colours
- Clematis, 1 stem
- Dahlia, cactus, 1 bloom
- Dahlia, decorative, 1 bloom
- Dahlia, any other kind, 1 bloom
- Fruited berry branch, not to exceed 1 metre
- Gladiolus, any colour, 1 spike
- Marigold, French type, 3 blooms
- Marigold, African type, 3 blooms
- Petunia, single, 1 bowl
- Petunia, double, 1 bowl
- Rose, hybrid tea, 1 bloom
- Rose, floating in a bowl with foliage

SECTION B – PLANTS

- Herb(s), in 1 pot, up to 3 kinds, must be named
- Pelargonium (Geranium), flowering, 1 pot

SECTION C – FRUITS & VEGETABLES
- Mixed vegetables on a plate

- Herbs, up to 5 varieties, displayed in water, must be named
SECTION D – DESIGN CATEGORIES

- Wild Life – A Design Including a Toy/Figurine Animal
a) Experienced exhibitors
b) Novice exhibitors (A person who has not yet won a first-place ribbon in a design category at an EYGC flower show.)
- Nature at its Best– An Interpretive Design
- Harvest Moon – A Design Using Yellow or Orange Flowers
- Watch That Log – A Design Incorporating a Twig or Branch
- Leaf Me Alone – A Miniature Design (maximum dimensions 12.7 cm)
